89th UFI Global Congress - Practical information

How to access the congress venue, OCEC

The OCEC location gives you modern convenience with its close location just 10 minutes away from the new Muscat International Airport.

It is just a 4 km drive from the airport to the OCEC either by Muscat highway or by Sultan Qaboos highway.

Our host has foreseen transportation from and to the hotels to reach the congress and the evening venues.

Registration desk where you can pick up your badge

The UFI Global Congress registration desk will be located at Oman Convention & Convention Centre on level 0 and will be opened at the following times:

Sunday, 13 November - 15:30-17:00

Monday, 14 November - 09:30-17:30

Tuesday, 15 November - 08:30-17:00

Wednesday, 16 November - 08:30-14:00

UFI Sports Club

From 06:30 to 07:45 on Tuesday 15 November

Meeting point: 6:30 in each hotel lobby (Kempinski and Crowne Plaza OCEC).

The ideal way to break the ice and get to know your industry peers.

Join the Running Club for a collective morning jog.

We will have two running groups – one next to the Kempinski and one at the Crowne Plaza surroundings.

This year, we are pleased to offer other fitness activities such our Pilates class by the beach at the Kempinski and a special Omani Yoga experience – Oud Meditation at the Crowne Plaza.

Join us whatever your fitness level!

Congress Dinner

From 20:00 to 23:00 on Tuesday 15 November

Meeting point: 19:00 in each hotel lobby (Kempinski and Crowne Plaza OCEC). Buses will leave at 19:15.

Dress Code:

The Congress Dinner is going to be outdoor on a grass field facing the ocean, therefore be sure to wear smart casual shoes to enjoy & get comfortable. No high heels.

Post Congress Tour

From 08:00 to 14:30 on Thursday 17 November

Meeting point: 08:00 at Kempinski Hotel and 08:15 at Crowne Plaza OCEC

Dress Code:

Women visiting the mosque are required to cover their head with a scarf and do not wear shorts, beachwear or sleeveless outfits as they are to be fully covered.

Swimwear should be worn only on beaches or at swimming pools.

Men are required to wear long trousers.

No shorts are allowed.

General information

Weather

November is a pleasant time to visit the desert climate in Oman. We'll be expecting sunshine and highs around 30°C (86°F) and lows around 21°C (70°F).

For the UFI Global Congress, we will have our usual 'business casual' attire suggestions for delegates while at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.

When you are outside of UFI events, we suggest you follow a conservative approach to your attire as is common in the region.

Liquor

Alcohol is available in hotels, clubs and their restaurants and bars as well as in airport duty free shops.

However, most restaurants that are not within hotels may not serve alcohol. Drinking in public places such as public beaches and parks is not permitted.

Money can be exchanged at Muscat International Airport, money exchanges and banks.
